Project Manager - Construction (Plumbing & Mechanical Focus)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial, healthcare, and education construction projects with emphasis on plumbing and mechanical systems. The role will oversee project planning, execution, budgeting, and stakeholder communication to deliver safe, compliant, on-time, and on-budget facilities. The ideal candidate combines strong construction and MEP knowledge with proven leadership, client-focused communication, and risk management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project delivery for commercial, healthcare, and education construction projects, with emphasis on plumbing and mechanical scopes.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to meet milestones and financial targets.
- Coordinate design reviews and value engineering with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and owners to ensure constructability and compliance with codes.
- Oversee procurement and management of subcontractors and vendors, ensuring scope clarity, performance, and safety compliance.
- Monitor project performance through regular site visits, progress reporting, and risk assessments; initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure all MEP and plumbing installations meet quality standards, contract requirements, and regulatory codes; facilitate commissioning and turnover activities.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams; prepare executive summaries and status reports.
- Manage change orders, claims, and contractual issues, negotiating resolutions that protect project objectives and relationships.
- Promote and enforce site safety programs and quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mentor and lead project engineers, coordinators, and field staff to build team capability and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field; relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) preferred.
- Minimum 5-8 years of progressive construction project management experience, with direct exposure to plumbing and mechanical (MEP) systems.
- Demonstrated experience delivering commercial, healthcare, and/or education projects with knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, MEP coordination, and commissioning processes.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, change orders, and subcontractor relationships effectively.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills; client-facing experience required.
- Proficiency with project management and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Primavera) and proficiency with construction documentation.
- Commitment to safety culture, with experience implementing site safety plans and quality control procedures.
- Ability to travel between job sites and work flexible hours as project demands require.
