GeoSystems Analysis, Inc., a Trinity Consultants team, specializes in soil, water, and ecological sciences and has an exciting, full-time opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in mine closure. The Project Manager oversees planning, execution, and delivery of mine closure projects including planning, waste & water management, and ecosystem restoration for our mining clients in the US and abroad. This role is responsible for ensuring high technical quality, financial performance, team coordination, and effective communication throughout the project life cycle. The Project Manager works closely with internal teams, clients, and leadership to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget. What will I be doing?

  • Lead projects related to tailings, heap leach and waste rock facility closure, including reclamation landform, cover systems, and storm water management.
  • Provide technical guidance on mine water balance modeling for tailings, heap leach, and waste rock draindown.
  • Design and manage characterization studies for waste rock and tailings physical and geochemical properties.
  • Lead the development of revegetation and ecosystem restoration strategies and the designing of cover systems and reclamation plans for mine sites.
  • Manage the design of surface water and seepage control measure for reclaimed mine waste rock facilities.
  • Oversee field-scale cover system trials and similar post-closure monitoring programs.
  • Establish and maintain project communication protocols with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track project goals, milestones, and task assignments.
  • Develop realistic budgets, scopes-of-work, proposals, study designs, and timelines in collaboration with project staff, leadership, clients, and collaborators.
  • Monitor labor and expense budgets on a weekly basis and address discrepancies proactively.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures and oversee delivery of technically sound project deliverables.
  • Provide training and mentoring to project staff to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Coordinate resource planning with project managers and staff across departments.
  • Identify and communicate project deviations and initiate timely change orders as needed.
  • Ensure proper documentation and close-out procedures including final project summaries.
  • Promote collaboration and efficiency across departments and disciplines.

What qualifications are required for this role?

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., geosciences, mining, civil engineering) required.
  • A minimum of 5 (five) years of progressive experience in mine closure consulting is required.
  • Strong understanding of project and financial management capabilities.
  • Experience using ArcGIS software and Microsoft software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify, manage, and communicate project risks and changes.
  • Capacity to produce and guide the development of technically sound deliverables.
  • Ability to develop and foster positive working relationships across teams and with clients.
  • Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken) considered an asset

The wage range for this position is $98,000 - $118,000 per year depending on education and experience.
