What we are looking for:

We are seeking a Project Manager to help us expand our Municipal Solid Waste engineering practice in Illinois.  You will lead engineering and consulting projects in the municipal solid waste sector. This role will involve managing multidisciplinary engineering projects associated with landfills, landfill gas systems, transfer stations, and other solid waste infrastructure.

 

We will value both your ability to mentor and your active participation in client and business development.  The successful candidate will collaborate with clients and our engineers, scientists, and support staff to deliver projects associated with design, construction, environmental monitoring and permitting of solid waste facilities.

 

This position provides a strong pathway to technical leadership, client management, and business development with a rapidly growing and successful company. You may work hybrid out of our Naperville office. 

How you can make an impact:

Project Management

  • Manage solid waste engineering projects from conceptual planning through design, permitting, bidding, and construction support.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and project teams.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary staff including civil, geotechnical, environmental, and construction professionals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
  • Participate in client development

Business Development and Client Relations

  • Plan, coordinate, and develop new client relationships in the solid waste industry.
  • Identify and deliver opportunities to expand services with existing clients.
  • Lead preparation of technical proposals, scopes, and cost estimates.
  • Participate in client meetings, industry conferences, and professional organizations.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Support staff development, training, and project execution.

Engineering & Technical Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering design and analysis for solid waste projects, including:
    • Landfill cells and expansions
    • Leachate collection systems
    • Landfill gas collection and control systems
    • Storm water management systems
    • Grading and site development plans
    • Transfer station permit modifications
  • Prepare and review:
    • Engineering calculations
    • Technical reports
    • Permit applications
    • Construction drawings and specifications
    • Cost estimates and engineering studies
  • Provide oversight during construction and construction quality assurance (CQA) activities.

Regulatory and Compliance Support

  • Support regulatory permitting and compliance for facility compliance with:
    • State solid waste regulations
    • Air permitting related to landfill gas systems
    • Storm water and water quality systems
  • Coordinate with local and state regulatory agencies during permit review and approvals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological/Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering, or related field required.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional engineering experience required, preferably in solid waste or environmental consulting.
  • Business Development experience in the Illinois solid waste market preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with solid waste infrastructure projects such as landfills, landfill gas systems, or waste facilities required.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills required.
  • Experience directing staff using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil3D design software preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing required.
Pay Range: USD $100,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
