Mechanical Project Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead mechanical construction and special projects from preconstruction through closeout. The role is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards by coordinating trades, managing resources, and maintaining clear communication with clients, engineers, and internal teams. Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, DTO workflows, and hands-on mechanical systems experience is highly desired.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning and execution of mechanical projects, including scope definition, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, and financial reporting; control change orders and mitigate cost risks.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal trades to ensure timely and quality installations of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing, controls).
- Oversee project documentation and drawing management using Procore and Bluebeam; maintain accurate RFI, submittal, and as-built records.
- Implement DTO (Digital Transfer of Operations) workflows and support digital handover deliverables for operational teams.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and safety requirements; drive corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare and present project status reports to clients and senior management; maintain transparent communication and address client concerns promptly.
- Lead special projects and technical initiatives, including commissioning coordination, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
- Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams to develop competitive bids and transition awarded projects into execution.
- Mentor junior staff and enforce company quality and safety standards on all mechanical projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; or equivalent technical/trade experience.
- 5+ years of mechanical construction project management experience, including oversight of HVAC, piping, plumbing, and controls.
- Proven experience using Procore and Bluebeam for project documentation, submittals, RFIs, and drawing management.
- Familiarity with DTO processes and digital handover deliverables for operations teams.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing project budgets, forecasts, and change orders.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills; ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- PMP, CCM, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of local building codes, mechanical codes, and safety regulations; OSHA 30 preferred.
