Project Manager Structural Engineering
Overview
Cornerstone Recruiting is partnering with a respected engineering firm to identify an experienced Project Manager Structural Engineering to lead and deliver structural projects of varying size and complexity. This role combines technical leadership, project execution, and client relationship management. The Project Manager will guide multidisciplinary teams, ensure financial and engineering excellence, and contribute to ongoing business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead and manage structural engineering projects from proposal through completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and client requirements
Serve as Lead Engineer on assigned projects, including self-performed work and projects secured by others
Oversee and mentor Project Engineers and Design Engineers, delegating tasks based on expertise, workload, and project needs
Prepare, review, and approve redline drawing markups and ensure accurate implementation by drafting teams
Conduct risk assessments, proactively identify issues, and recommend mitigation strategies to management
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the primary liaison between internal teams, clients, vendors, and other project stakeholders
Address client questions and concerns throughout the project lifecycle with professionalism and responsiveness
Establish, maintain, and strengthen long-term client relationships to support repeat business and client satisfaction
Assist in securing new project work through proposals and business development efforts
Financial & Contract Management
Develop, manage, and track project budgets in alignment with contracted fees
Conduct cost analyses and prepare project estimates for proposals
Maintain accurate project accounting records and contracted fee data in company systems
Review and approve client invoices and assist with the collection of aged accounts receivable
Coordinate submission and review of contracts, subconsultant agreements, purchase orders, lien waivers, and NDAs
Demonstrate working knowledge of contract language and potential legal or financial risks
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all projects comply with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company standards
Prepare and submit complete drawings and calculations for internal quality control reviews
Respond to QA/QC feedback and implement revisions in accordance with established procedures
Maintain organized and compliant electronic and hard-copy project files
Leadership, Mentorship & Professional Development
Mentor engineers to support technical growth, efficiency, and career development
Provide constructive performance feedback to team members
Collaborate with management, marketing, and business development teams to support company growth
Participate in continuing education, professional organizations, and networking activities
Maintain required professional development hours for licensure

Qualifications & Experience
Education & Licensure
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering (structural emphasis), or a closely related field (required)
Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) licensure (preferred)
Experience
8 15 years of progressive structural engineering experience preferred
Proven experience leading projects, managing budgets, and mentoring technical teams
Technical & Professional Skills
Strong proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA-3D, RAM, TEDDS, or similar tools
Ability to produce clear, organized, and legible hand calculations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or comparable project documentation tools
Exceptional budgeting, cost control, and financial management skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
