The Project Manager Transmission will manage, direct, and coordinate all aspects of overhead transmission projects from concept through completion. This role is responsible for the overall success of assigned projects, including profit and loss accountability, schedule adherence, quality, safety, and client satisfaction. The Project Manager will serve as the primary client interface and is expected to build, maintain, and grow long-term client relationships that result in repeat business and expanded service offerings.
In addition to project execution, this position will support business development initiatives, assist in the pursuit of new clients, and collaborate closely with Account Managers and company leadership on marketing, proposal development, and strategic growth initiatives within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) market.
Provide overall management of transmission projects from concept through closeout, including siting, environmental review, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and closeout activities.
Manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and risk to ensure successful project delivery within contractual requirements.
Own and manage project financials, including detailed cost forecasting, accruals, budgeting, staffing plans, change management, and risk mitigation strategies.
Develop and monitor project schedules; proactively identify and resolve potential impacts to cost, schedule, or quality.
Establish and implement project execution plans, project controls systems, and project-specific policies and procedures.
Ensure all deliverables meet internal QA/QC standards and client expectations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, owners, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders.
Establish, maintain, and grow strong professional relationships with clients to support repeat business and long-term partnerships.
Manage all aspects of project communication, including progress reporting, coordination meetings, and issue resolution.
Report regularly on project progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, and risks requiring management attention.
Leverage existing client relationships and develop new client relationships to drive profitable growth.
Assist in the pursuit of new work, including proposal development, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
Support and participate in business development and marketing activities for T&D engineering and construction consulting services.
Participate in strategic planning and development of sales and marketing plans, including trade shows, trade publications, and customer relationship initiatives.
Direct and coordinate activities across multiple disciplines on projects of moderate scope or a combination of smaller projects.
Support the development of the Transmission team through hiring, training, mentoring, and performance development.
Foster a collaborative, safety-focused, and high-performance project environment.
Travel to client offices and project sites as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited curriculum required.
Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of required experience.
Minimum of 7 years of related experience, including at least 3 years managing engineering projects within the Transmission & Distribution industry.
Demonstrated experience with overhead transmission projects and the production of transmission design and construction documents.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and other applicable industry codes and standards.
Proven success in project management, including proposal development, contract negotiations, budgeting, scheduling, design coordination, and client management.
Demonstrated ability to develop business and establish long-term client relationships.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply diversified technical knowledge to complex projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
Ability to devise innovative approaches to complex project challenges.
Experience working with a wide variety of industry, government, and public contracts.
Ability to travel as required.
Valid driver's license required.
Must meet and maintain eligibility for company vehicle driving privileges in accordance with the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
