PROJECT MANAGER REMOTE, USA
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Finance Project Manager to lead cross-functional financial initiatives from planning and requirements gathering through implementation, delivery, and post-launch support. This role will partner with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, IT, Operations, Compliance, and executive stakeholders to deliver projects that improve financial processes, reporting, systems, controls, and business performance.
The ideal candidate combines strong project management skills with practical knowledge of finance and accounting processes. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, building project plans, coordinating distributed teams, identifying risks, and communicating complex financial and technical information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end finance projects from initiation and requirements gathering through implementation and closeout.
Develop project charters, detailed project plans, milestones, budgets, resource plans, and delivery schedules.
Manage financial transformation, process improvement, system implementation, reporting, and automation initiatives.
Partner with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Procurement, IT, and business stakeholders to define requirements.
Coordinate ERP, financial systems, reporting, analytics, and process modernization projects.
Manage project scope, timelines, dependencies, budgets, risks, issues, and change requests.
Establish project governance, communication plans, status reporting, and executive-level reporting.
Facilitate requirements workshops, stakeholder meetings, design sessions, testing, and implementation activities.
Coordinate UAT, data validation, system integration testing, defect resolution, and production readiness.
Identify process gaps and develop practical solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and reporting.
Lead financial reporting and dashboard initiatives using data from ERP and other business systems.
Support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, close-process improvements, and management reporting projects.
Collaborate with technology teams on APIs, data integrations, automation, security, and system architecture.
Monitor project financials, resource utilization, benefits realization, and overall return on investment.
Identify project risks early and develop mitigation plans with appropriate stakeholders.
Manage vendors, consultants, technology partners, and external implementation teams when required.
Drive change management, user adoption, training, documentation, and business readiness.
Maintain project documentation, decisions, requirements, process maps, test plans, and implementation records.
Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations clearly to senior leadership.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives after implementation based on business feedback and performance results.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
5+ years of project management experience, preferably supporting Finance or Accounting organizations.
Strong understanding of financial processes including FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, reporting, close, and controls.
Proven experience managing complex cross-functional projects from initiation through implementation.
Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery.
Experience developing project plans, RAID logs, work breakdown structures, status reports, and executive presentations.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Project or equivalent project management tools.
Experience with project management platforms such as Jira, Smartsheet, Asana, Monday.com, or Microsoft Project.
Experience working with ERP and financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, or Microsoft Dynamics.
Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and distributed teams in a remote environment.
Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with executives and business users.
Preferred Qualifications
PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, or equivalent project management certification.
MBA, CPA, CMA, or other finance-related professional qualification.
Experience leading finance transformation or digital transformation programs.
Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or other financial analytics technologies.
Experience implementing or upgrading ERP, FP&A, consolidation, or financial reporting platforms.
Experience with financial automation, workflow optimization, data migration, or reporting modernization.
Experience managing projects involving SOX controls, audit, compliance, or regulatory requirements.
Experience working with geographically distributed or remote teams.
Experience with change management and organizational transformation initiatives.
