Senior Project Manager – Structural Steel / Heavy Civil Construction

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of large-scale structural steel and heavy civil projects from award through final closeout. You'll serve as the primary point of contact for customers while leading cross-functional teams across engineering, detailing, purchasing, production, quality, logistics, and finance.

What You'll Do
As a Senior Project Manager, you'll serve as the quarterback for complex structural steel and heavy civil construction projects, ensuring successful execution while maximizing profitability and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Lead projects from estimating, contract award, planning, fabrication, delivery, installation, and final closeout
Own project scope, schedule, budget, risk management, and overall customer experience
Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, milestone tracking, and KPI reporting
Conduct project kickoff meetings and coordinate all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
Review contracts, specifications, blueprints, shop drawings, and project requirements to ensure successful execution
Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, claims avoidance, and contract compliance
Coordinate closely with production, purchasing, detailing, engineering, logistics, and finance teams
Drive project profitability through effective cost management and strategic change order administration
Maintain strong relationships with owners, contractors, DOT agencies, engineers, and key project stakeholders
Provide project updates and executive-level reporting to senior leadership
Identify project risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies before they impact schedule or budget
Conduct customer visits, jobsite meetings, and project reviews to ensure successful outcomes
Lead project closeout activities, lessons learned reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
7+ years of Project Management experience within:
Structural Steel Fabrication
Bridge Construction
Heavy Civil Construction
Highway Infrastructure
Large Industrial Projects
Commercial Construction
Proven experience managing multimillion-dollar projects with responsibility for schedule, budget, and customer satisfaction
Strong understanding of contracts, change orders, claims management, and risk mitigation
Experience leading cross-functional teams in a manufacturing or construction environment
Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage project costs, margins, forecasts, and profitability
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, fabrication drawings, plans, and specifications
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and customer-facing skills
Willingness to travel as required to project sites and customer locations
