This is a seconded position, meaning the selected candidate will be employed by ITAC but work full-time on assignment with one of our clients. While day-to-day responsibilities will be managed on-site with the client, ITAC provides ongoing support, resources, and benefits as your employer. This position is full time contract work anticipated to last through the end of 2026, and requires the employee to be on the client's Wilmington, NC site. Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating cross-functional project efforts spanning engineering, design, procurement, contracting, and construction to achieve defined project goals and objectives. This role requires a hands-on leader who can navigate ambiguity, take initiative, and drive projects forward with limited direction while maintaining accountability for outcomes.

The Project Manager applies sound judgment, technical expertise, and practical experience to deliver high-quality results and ensure successful project execution. Senior-level Project Managers are expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on performance, decision-making, and delivery excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and direct a project team’s engineering, design, procurement and construction efforts to meet a customer’s project objectives
  • Work with client and engineering team to develop new project scopes and cost estimates
  • Exercise judgment and experience when applying principles stated above to ensure that sufficient alternatives are considered by the team and that the optimal solution(s) are achieved with schedule and budget constraints.
  • Provide, endorse, and enforce the applicable project principles, practices, and guidelines to ensure efficient and safe use and allocation of the team’s and the firm’s resources
  • Work with team members and management to identify team and project execution weaknesses and strengthen those areas with process and personnel improvements
  • Ensure sufficient quality reviews (e.g. inter-discipline and constructability) are built into the project team’s execution plan
  • Manage and maintain project scopes, schedules, budgets; change order management
  • Obey and enforce safety rules and exercise caution in all work activities
  • Maintain positive client relations

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant project management/construction management experience
  • Industrial plant project management experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrates values and work behaviors that align with a collaborative, high-integrity team environment, with a proven ability to integrate seamlessly into team culture and contribute positively to shared goals.
  • Highly motivated and proactive, with the ability to take ownership of responsibilities and drive work forward with minimal supervision.
  • Shows a strong ability to identify needs, take initiative, and independently navigate ambiguity—effectively figuring things out and executing solutions without requiring constant direction.
  • Capable of moving from concept to completion efficiently, ensuring tasks and projects are carried through with accountability and follow-through.
