Job Description:

Project Mgr

Location: Roanoke, Virginia (On-site)

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Project Manager with a background in the electric utility sector for a long-term joint venture project. This role requires managing base, intermediate, and complex projects within a matrix team environment. The ideal candidate will provide leadership, direction, and effective communication to plan, execute, and close projects safely and efficiently, ensuring maximum customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage or assist in managing projects to achieve short and long-range goals, ensuring a safe, efficient, and risk-balanced approach.
  • Develop, review, and coordinate the project plan, schedule, budget, tools, and staff.
  • Communicate project details and status updates through planning meetings, reports, and presentations.
  • Develop and manage procurement plans for necessary outside resources, including overseeing vendor performance and contract compliance.
  • Support and hold employees and contractors accountable for safety processes, fostering a "Zero Harm" work environment.
  • Develop working relationships with the project team, stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to foster teamwork.
  • Conduct or assist in project closeout processes, including an analysis of project success.
  • Adhere to organizational project management standards and governance.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, or a related field with three years of qualified experience, or an Associates degree in the same disciplines with five years of qualified experience.

Experience: Qualified experience includes project management in utility and major construction, outage management, business administration, project estimating, controls, and engineering. Experience in IT and Telecom does not qualify for this role. Candidates must be local to the Roanoke, VA area within a 50-mile radius.

Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple levels.

Additional Requirements: A valid drivers license is required. This position requires up to 25% travel, consisting of day trips and occasional overnight stays. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of P6 and PMBOK methodologies.
  • Background in Transmission Line, Forestry, Environmental, and Regulatory areas.
