Project/Product Manager I - Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

Schedule: M-F, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Hybrid)
Assignment Length: Approximately 12-Months, possibly longer.
DESCRIPTION
Our client is seeking a Project/Product Manager I to support strategic procurement and category management for direct materials. This entry-level project management role offers hands-on experience in supply chain, sourcing, and procurement initiatives. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Key Responsibilities:
- Support strategic procurement and sourcing initiatives for various material categories including poles, transformers, cables, substation equipment, MRO supplies, safety equipment, and chemicals.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and tracking of project schedules and deliverables.
- Conduct competitive Request for Proposals (RFPs) to meet material requirements and achieve purchasing performance goals.
- Support supplier engagement and negotiations to obtain the best commercial terms and value.
- Perform data analysis in Excel and develop presentations in PowerPoint to support sourcing recommendations.
- Maintain project documentation and assist in reporting progress to stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve project objectives.
REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–3 years of experience supporting projects, supply chain, procurement, or contract management.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to organize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a team environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting sourcing strategies for direct materials, including vendor selection and competitive RFP execution.
- Familiarity with procurement processes, supplier negotiations, and contract terms.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
