Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):
· Instill safety in employees through example and personal contact.
· Display strong leadership, teamwork and ability to work with and through others at all levels of project leadership.
· Facilitate, monitor, and assess the effectiveness of the implementation of Brasfield & Gorrie’s Safety Health & Environmental System (SHEMS) on their respective project.
· Identify safety and health training needs, assists in program development, coordinate, monitor, and deliver training as needed at a project level.
· Monitor the safety process for their project and offer ongoing recommendations for continuous improvement.
· Partner with Brasfield & Gorrie employees and subcontractors to reduce injuries and foster a Zero Injury culture.
· Responsible for calling a stop work on the project if life threatening conditions or hazards exist.
· Assist in the development and acceptance of job hazard analysis (JHA), Site Safety work Plans, Public Hazard Analysis, and Environmental Management Plans.
· Engages in Site safety inspections, coordinating corrections with all contractors.
· Reviews and oversees procedures for the investigation of construction related incidents and accidents.
· Develop and implement Contractor Orientation procedures for a multi-lingual work site.
· Management level loss control reviews for all Workers Compensation and GL Claims and Safety Inspections Statistical information to develop and present technical reports for their project.
· Provide general safety oversight and performance of both administrative and field safety management responsibilities.
Management:
· Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, values and goals.
· Provide oversight of the training plans for their project.
· Provide oversight to ensure subcontractor’s safety documents, including insurance certificates, are approved and available onsite before the subcontractor starts work.
· Provide oversight of the process ensuring that Brasfield & Gorrie policies and procedures pertaining to incident reporting and claims management are adhered to and assist as needed.
· Provide oversight of injury investigation and all serious near miss incidents to B&G employees occurring on their project.
· Provide oversight in assisting project team with OSHA regulations compliance.
· Mentor and assist with professional development of the Safety Department staff on the project.
Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience:· Bachelor degree in a Safety related discipline or a minimum 10+ years of construction safety management experience
· Safety management experience on power or large industrial projects ($300 million or higher) strongly preferred
· OSHA 500 Authorized Instructor
· Technical awareness in environmental management which includes storm water pollution prevention planning and administration
· CHST, ASP, or CSP
