Position Description
The Flood Control Districts mission is to reduce the risk of flooding in Harris County, the third most populous county in the United States, with a population exceeding 4.7 million, including the City of Houston, the nation's fourth-largest city. The Flood Control District has jurisdiction over the primary stormwater facilities in the county, which consist of approximately 1,500 channels totaling nearly 2,500 miles in length, as well as more than 60 regional stormwater detention basins totaling more than 10,000 acres, and several wetlands mitigation banks, including Greens Bayou.
The Harris County Flood Control District (District) is seeking motivated and detail-oriented candidates for the Project Scheduler role, which is responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and analysis of project schedules.
Essential Functions & Duties:
Project Scheduling & Analysis
Perform routine schedule analysis, help identify potential delays, and participate in meetings to support timely project delivery.
Develop, maintain, and update project schedules for District projects in accordance with District scheduling procedures.
Assist in integrating schedules from engineering firms and contractors into the master project schedule.
Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
Training & Mentoring
Process & Policy Improvement
Additional Responsibilities and Duties
Attend department staff meetings, meetings with coordinating departments, vendors, and agencies.
Attend seminars, conference workshops, re-certification, or other training programs.
Assist with department projects, as needed.
Assume additional responsibilities as required, adapting to the Districts evolving demands, responsibilities, needs, and objectives.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
Requires a high school graduate or equivalent.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in project scheduling or project controls.
Any experience with public sector or grant-funded projects is beneficial but not mandatory.
Licensure:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and visual/data).
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and MS Project.
Basic knowledge of Primavera P6.
High attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.

Preferences
Prefer a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Relevant certifications or coursework will also be considered.
Two years of experience may be allowed for each year of education if in the same field.
Understanding of project delivery life cycles (construction, engineering, or infrastructure preferred).
