Project Superintendent — Construction
Position Summary
The Project Superintendent is responsible for leading day-to-day field operations on construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role serves as the primary on-site leader, coordinating subcontractors, managing site logistics, and maintaining alignment between field execution and project management objectives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction professional with strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of construction practices, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Project Execution
- Oversee daily job site operations from mobilization through project completion.
- Manage subcontractors, field staff, and site activities to maintain project schedule and productivity.
- Coordinate construction sequencing, logistics, and workflow planning.
- Ensure all work aligns with project drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
Schedule Management
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term construction schedules.
- Identify and resolve schedule conflicts or delays.
- Coordinate inspections, material deliveries, and subcontractor activities.
Safety Management
- Promote and enforce a strong job site safety culture.
- Conduct daily safety meetings, site inspections, and toolbox talks.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
Quality Control
- Monitor workmanship and installation quality.
- Perform inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Manage punch lists and oversee corrective work.
- Support successful project closeout and turnover.
Communication & Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, engineers, owners, and design teams.
- Maintain clear communication with subcontractors and field crews.
- Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and site conditions.
- Maintain accurate daily reports and project documentation.
Resource & Site Management
- Manage job site layout, material staging, and equipment utilization.
- Monitor labor productivity and workforce needs.
- Assist with cost awareness and field budget management.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of construction field experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience managing commercial, industrial, residential, or institutional projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, building systems, and sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proven leadership managing subcontractors and field teams.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with construction management software preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
