  • Review and interpret engineering plans, title documents, and field notes to ensure accurate and complete survey work products.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and construction-related survey documents.
  • Perform and review calculations for construction staking, control networks, and mapping to support design and construction activities.
  • Process, analyze, and perform QA/QC on field survey data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Prepare maps, plats, legal descriptions, and exhibits for parcels, easements, and rights-of-way.
  • Coordinate daily with field crews, survey technicians, project managers, and clients to align expectations and maintain project progress.
  • Ensure project schedules, budgets, and quality standards are consistently met across multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to survey team members to support their development and maintain high technical standards.
  • Manage a portfolio of 4-5 projects at a time, ranging from small construction staking assignments to multi-month mapping projects, while effectively prioritizing tasks and deadlines.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related tools to support the preparation of survey drawings, maps, and related documentation.
  • Support the preparation of ALTA surveys, topographic maps, construction staking layouts, and record surveys with minimal supervision.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience managing land surveying projects from start to finish, including ALTA, topographic, construction staking, and record surveys with minimal supervision.
  • Strong proficiency in land surveying principles, including boundary analysis, control networks, and construction staking.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and construction-related survey documents.
  • Ability to process, analyze, and perform QA/QC on field survey data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D for preparing survey drawings, maps, and related documentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for effective coordination with internal teams and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering plans, title documents, and field notes accurately.
  • Capability to provide mentorship and technical guidance to survey staff.
  • A collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Licensed land surveyor or equivalent professional licensure, with the capability to independently manage projects from A to Z.
  • Experience working with GIS platforms such as ESRI is a plus.
  • Experience preparing maps, plats, legal descriptions, and exhibits for parcels, easements, and rights-of-way.
  • Prior experience coordinating with field crews, survey technicians, and project managers on public and private sector projects.
  • Interest in participating in technical training and knowledge-sharing sessions such as lunch-and-learn programs.

Work Environment

The role offers a diverse project portfolio, with the Project Surveyor typically managing 4-5 projects concurrently, ranging from small construction staking tasks to three-month mapping projects. Work is not repetitive and includes exposure to a wide variety of public and private projects. The environment emphasizes strong technical quality, supported by collaborative "lunch and learn" sessions and an open-door policy that encourages communication and knowledge sharing. The organization provides flexibility in work hours to help balance project demands and personal commitments.
