A premier Indiana-based residential property management firm is seeking a skilled Property Accountant to join the team at our Carmel office. In this role, you will oversee financial operations across a diverse real estate portfolio, ensuring precise financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and insightful financial analysis to support the ongoing growth and financial health of our properties.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities:
  • General Accounting: Plan, coordinate, and administer general accounting activities, including preparing and maintaining journal entries and general ledger management.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist with the production of monthly financial statements, summary reports for management, and budget-to-actual analysis.
  • Property Operations: Process resident utility billings (including RUBS allocation), perform ledger corrections, and oversee the collection filing process.
  • Asset & Cash Management: Track fixed assets, prepare quarterly replacement reserve requests, and assist with accounts payable processing.
  • Collaboration & Support: Partner with team members to gather financial data, and serve as a point of contact for inquiries from employees, vendors, owners, and residents regarding accounts and procedures.

Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Accounting Experience: Minimum 2 years of corporate accounting experience required, with a strong grasp of GAAP, double-entry bookkeeping, and bank/account reconciliations.
  • Property Management: 2 years of residential property management accounting experience preferred.
  • Technical Systems: 1 year of experience with Yardi preferred. Proficiency in advanced Excel for data analysis and financial modeling is required. Familiarity with similar platforms (Sage, PeopleSoft, QuickBooks) or compliance frameworks (SOX) is a plus.
  • Communication: Ability to interpret, write, and present financial reports clearly for various stakeholders.
