We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Property Accountant with a focus on Commercial Real Estate. This role will be a part of our vibrant Accounting and Finance team, where you will be responsible for managing all aspects related to the financial operations of our portfolio of commercial properties. This is a permanent, full-time position, offering a unique opportunity to leverage your accounting skills in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will have a strong background in property accounting, commercial real estate accounting, and retail, with proficiency in MRI software and CAM reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and yearly CAM reconciliations and ensure accuracy and compliance with lease agreements.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, including variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Coordinate with property managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Oversee the accounts payable and receivable, property taxes, insurance, and other property-related costs.
- Provide support during audits and assist with tax preparation and filing.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and industry trends.
- Utilize MRI software for property management accounting functions and generate insightful reports.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in property accounting, with a focus on commercial real estate.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in MRI software and experience with CAM reconciliations.
- Experience in the retail sector is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and interact with various stakeholders.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- CPA or CMA certification will be considered an asset.
