We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a property and casualty insurance underwriter. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing and evaluating insurance applications to determine coverage and premiums for various property and casualty insurance policies. You will work closely with insurance agents and brokers to gather relevant information and make informed decisions based on risk analysis.

As a property and casualty insurance underwriter, you will play a crucial role in managing the company's risk exposure and ensuring that policies are accurately priced. You will need to have excellent analytical and decision-making skills, as well as a strong understanding of insurance regulations and industry trends. Additionally, you must have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to effectively communicate your decisions and recommendations.

Responsibilities


  • Assess insurance applications and evaluate risk factors to determine coverage and premiums for property and casualty insurance policies
  • Analyze underwriting information, such as loss history, financial statements, and industry reports, to make informed decisions and recommendations
  • Collaborate with insurance agents and brokers to gather additional information and clarify policy requirements
  • Review and negotiate policy terms, conditions, and pricing with clients and brokers
  • Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions, policy details, and client interactions
  • Monitor policy renewals and make adjustments based on changes in risk exposure or market conditions
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to effectively assess and manage potential risks

Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a property and casualty insurance underwriter or a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients and brokers
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software applications relevant to underwriting and risk analysis
  • Professional certification in property and casualty insurance underwriting (e.g., ARM, CPCU) is preferred but not required
