A growing real estate company near the West Town / River North area of Chicago is seeking a Property Bookkeeper to join their internal accounting team. This is a direct?hire, fully onsite role and an excellent opportunity for someone looking for long?term stability and internal career growth within real estate accounting.

This role is open to candidates with as little as one year of experience, provided they have real estate accounting exposure. Candidates who have supported multiple entities or properties will be strongly considered.

Position Details

  • Position Type: Direct Hire

Key Responsibilities

  • Process invoices, internal billing, allocations, and rebilling across entities
  • Perform journal entries and support general ledger activities
  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Support payroll processing by reviewing payroll reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with allocating payroll expenses across properties and entities
  • Prepare and post payroll?related journal entries
  • Support bookkeeping activities for multiple properties/entities
  • Ensure accuracy and proper documentation of financial transactions
  • Assist with month?end close and routine reconciliations
  • Communicate with internal teams regarding billing and accounting matters

Qualifications

  • One plus year of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred; however, candidates with relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree, particularly within the real estate industry
  • Experience supporting multiple entities or properties strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of transactional accounting principles
  • Prior exposure to property accounting/software systems (MRI, Yardi, or similar preferred but not required)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and follow?up skills
