OVERVIEW
Performs and helps coordinate contracted building maintenance and repair work including janitorial, minor electric, plumbing, painting and dry wall repair, carpentry, and landscaping on agency operated buildings and grounds.Work is performed under regular administrative supervision and is guided by agency policies and procedures, building trade practices and specific maintenance, installation and repair manuals when available.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of the installation, repair and maintenance practices, tools, and materials used in the skilled trades including carpentry, painting, drywall, plumbing, janitorial, electrical and horticultural maintenance; ability to perform a variety of skilled repair and general maintenance tasks; ability to work from heights and on ladders and scaffolding and perform heavy manual labor; ability to prepare and maintain routine records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff and external contractors, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to operate a vehicle.
TYPICAL EDUCATION, TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED preferred and extensive experience in common building trades work.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Virginia Driver's License.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL EXPOSURE
Work involves considerable exposure to disagreeable environmental conditions such as inclement weather, unsanitary spaces, significant accident hazards, and motor vehicle operation; physically demanding to include moving/lifting of heavy objects such as equipment, materials, appliances, fixtures, and/or assuming uncomfortable positions for extended periods;
