Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Property Manager to oversee the daily operations of a newer affordable housing community in the Boston area. This mixed-use development includes affordable residential units and commercial space and serves as an important community asset.
The ideal candidate will have affordable housing experience, strong operational and compliance knowledge, and a passion for serving residents while maintaining a high-quality living environment. Experience with LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, or other affordable housing programs is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day property operations, ensuring strong financial, operational, and resident satisfaction results.
- Manage leasing, renewals, occupancy, waitlists, move-ins, and move-outs.
- Ensure compliance with affordable housing regulations, program requirements, and Fair Housing standards.
- Supervise onsite staff, vendors, and maintenance personnel.
- Monitor property budgets, approve invoices, oversee collections, and manage delinquency.
- Conduct resident relations activities and resolve resident concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate resident files, compliance records, and operational reports.
- Coordinate property inspections and ensure the community is maintained to high standards.
- Collaborate with ownership and regional leadership on performance goals and community initiatives.
- Support retail/commercial tenant relations and lease compliance as needed.
- Assist with marketing and outreach efforts to maintain occupancy and community engagement.
Required Qualifications
MUST HAVE
- 2+ years of experience in multifamily property management, affordable housing, or community management.
- Experience managing affordable housing programs such as LIHTC, HUD, Project-Based Section 8, or other subsidized housing programs.
- Knowledge of compliance requirements, certifications, recertifications, and resident file management.
- Experience with budgeting, rent collections, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Property Manager experience.
- Assistant Property Managers ready to take the next step into a Property Manager role.
- Experience with newer developments, lease-up communities, or mixed-use properties.
- Affordable housing certifications such as COS, TCS, HCCP, CPO, or equivalent.
- Experience with Yardi, OneSite, RealPage, or similar property management platforms.
- Familiarity with retail or commercial tenant management.
