Compensation: $140,000-$180,000 + Equity

The Client:

\n

Lumicity has partnered with an early-stage, growing Defense & Aerospace company based in Orange County, California on their search for a Propulsion Design Engineer to join their team. This client is in the early stages of their development and is seeking a hands-on engineer who can take ownership of the full lifecycle of gas turbines and, more specifically, their engines.

The Responsibilities:

\n

• \n
• Take ownership of the full lifecycle of turbomachinery (turbines, turbine engines, jet engines, high-speed rotating machinery etc) from design to prototype, analysis, testing, and through to validation.
• \n
• Carry out hand calculations, FEA, thermal, structural, fatigue and vibration analysis to validate the designs
• \n
• Produce detailed CAD models, engineering drawings and assembly documentation
• \n
• Support the testing of the design and prototypes, working extremely closely with the manufacturing team
• \n
• Produce 3D drawings and entire rotating assemblies for engines and their components
• \n

The Requirements:

\n

• \n
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
• \n
• 4+ years' experience within high-speed rotating machinery design, preferably turbines, engines, propulsion and combustion systems
• \n
• Extensive knowledge of FEA, thermal, structural, fatigue and vibration analysis, with knowledge of ANSYS
• \n
• Proficient in a variety of CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, Fusion360 etc)
• \n
• Previous experience working within a startup environment is highly advantageous
• \n
• US Citizen or Green Card Holder
• \n
