PGS Worldwide is seeking a Propulsion Engineer in Chandler, AZ for a one-year contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Propulsion Engineer will support launch vehicle and hardware development, procurement, testing, and integration. This role focuses on ordnance, pneumatic, hydraulic, motor, propulsion, and energetics analysis for launch vehicles, missile systems, and space mission systems. Candidates must have an active Secret clearance at the time of application.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 2+ years of related engineering experience, or master’s degree in STEM with 0+ years of related engineering experience.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher at time of application.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Experience or ability to support propulsion systems, launch vehicles, missile systems, or space mission systems.
  • Ability to perform analysis, design, or testing of moderately complex materials, energetics, structural components, and control systems.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles, industry standards, company standards, and customer requirements.
  • Ability to mathematically define engineering problems and compute engineering characteristics consistent with specifications and design requirements.
  • Ability to support pneumatic and hydraulic component or system testing.
  • Ability to conduct trade studies and evaluate alternative designs.
  • Ability to support project planning, conceptual design, and risk analysis.
  • Ability to interact with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to support system requirements definition and product or subsystem specifications.
  • Ability to develop and present technical materials for project briefings and design reviews.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to supplier and launch facilities.

Preferred Skills

  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance.
  • Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering degree.
  • MATLAB experience.
  • Python experience.
  • Environmental testing experience.
  • Data acquisition equipment operation experience.
  • Configuration change management experience.
  • Supply chain management of subcontractors.
  • Experience presenting technical data to internal and external customers.

  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, rocket motors, energetics, launch vehicles, propulsion systems, subcontractor coordination, hardware acceptance reviews, pre-launch reviews, flight readiness, and supplier change notifications.

What You’ll Do

  • Support launch vehicle and hardware development, procurement, and testing.
  • Perform ordnance, pneumatic, hydraulic, motor, propulsion, and energetics analysis and integration activities.
  • Analyze, design, and test materials, structural components, and control systems for propulsion systems.
  • Support propulsion systems for launch vehicles, missile systems, and space mission systems.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design, optimization, and analysis activities.
  • Define and coordinate testing needed to evaluate design work.
  • Provide hands-on test support for pneumatic and hydraulic components and systems.
  • Support functional and environmental testing.
  • Serve as responsible engineer for medium-sized subcontract activity.
  • Coordinate supplier change notifications, nonconformances, and hardware acceptance reviews.
  • Conduct pre-launch engineering reviews.
  • Review as-built vehicle hardware and pre-launch data.
  • Assess flight readiness and work with flight field teams.
  • Conduct trade studies and evaluate alternative designs.
  • Support new business efforts and proposal material preparation.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • Onsite in Chandler, AZ.
  • 9x80 A schedule.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Pay

  • $62.26/hour
