The Recruitment, Admissions, and Financial Aid team is a part of the Office of Academic and Student Affairs (OASA). OASA teams are responsible for many aspects of the lifecycle of the student including recruitment, admissions, and financial aid; registration and student services; and academic programs and student life.

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and student-centered Prospective Student Engagement Coordinator to join our dynamic and collaborative admissions team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Recruitment Strategy, you will play a key role in increasing awareness of our bachelor's and master's programs and encouraging prospective students to apply. You will engage with a wide range of audiences through events, communications, and outreach initiatives designed to build visibility, strengthen the applicant pipeline, and support enrollment goals across all programs.

Responsibilities*

  • Lead and support recruitment, yield, and transition initiatives for prospective and admitted students through personalized communications, events, onboarding activities,

and other engagement efforts that support enrollment and student success.

  • Support strategic planning and execution of recruitment and yield efforts for priority prospective student populations in alignment with institutional enrollment goals.
  • Plan, coordinate and represent UMSI at on- and off-campus recruitment events, including information sessions, college fairs and targeted outreach, with regular travel and occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, counselors, advisors, faculty, alumni, and educational institutions to expand program awareness and strengthen recruitment pipelines.
  • Track, analyze, and report on outreach effectiveness, engagement trends, and conversion metrics to inform recruitment strategy and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience engaging with prospective students/applicants through multiple channels in higher education recruitment, admissions, student engagement, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Slate) and using data to inform recruitment strategy and outreach efforts.
  • Experience planning and executing recruitment activities, including presentations, information sessions, outreach events, and partnership-building efforts.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent academic programs effectively to prospective students and stakeholders.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

This is a hybrid position. You will coordinate your schedule with your supervisor in accordance with school policy. You may be required to travel to multiple locations on and off campus. The main office workspace for this position is located in the Leinweber Computer Science and Information Building. Punctual and regular attendance is required. You will be required to work during non-business hours and on weekends based on the requirements for your position.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $53,000 to $60,000. Salary is determined by direct relevant experience and demonstrated past performance results while ensuring equity on our team. While rare, we may offer a salary above the posted range for an exceptionally qualified candidate, considering internal equity and budget. All candidates are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor alignment and transparency throughout the recruiting process.

Union Affiliation

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by University Staff United, AFT Local 284, AFL-CIO, which represents Employees in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks. Background checks are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
