Job Summary

Alabama Power is seeking a Protection & Control (P&C) Technician I to support the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of protection and control systems used in electrical substations. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with 0–3 years of experience who are looking to build a career in substation maintenance, electrical controls, and power systems.

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of electrical systems, protection relays, PLCs, and electrical schematics, along with a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

·       Install, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control relays and associated equipment.

·       Perform calibration and testing of protection and control devices.

·       Install, configure, and maintain protective relays and control systems.

·       Assist with field assignments and project activities.

·       Create and maintain technical documentation for protection and control systems.

·       Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

·       Support maintenance activities involving PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC systems, sensors, motors, and related equipment.

·       Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and best practices.

·       Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

·       High School Diploma or GED.

·       Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred.

·       0–3 years of experience as a Controls Technician, Electrical Technician, or related role.

·       Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.

·       Working knowledge of PLCs and HMIs.

·       Experience with AC and DC electrical systems.

·       Basic Microsoft Office skills.

·       Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

·       Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Montgomery, AL office.
