The Prototype Machinist / NC Programmer role involves supporting research and development by interpreting drawings and 3D models to produce high-precision prototype hardware in a "Build to Print" environment.
Responsibilities include planning and setting up multi-axis mills, lathes, and mill-turn machines (including 5-axis contouring), creating and verifying NC programs using CAD/CAM software, fabricating fixtures and tooling, inspecting machined parts for quality, and preparing hardware for testing or deployment.
Ideal candidates are meticulous, self-directed, and collaborative, with experience in CNC control programming (Fanuc, Mazak, HAAS), tool selection, and machining in materials like aluminum and stainless steel. Desired skills include fixture design, GD&T, extensive prototype machining experience, and familiarity with advanced equipment such as multi-axis mill-turns and Boring Mills.
