Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – Placer Corrections Facility - Full Time

Pay: $109.81 – $144.74/hr

Position Summary

We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our team at Placer Corrections Facility. In this role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric and mental health services to individuals in a correctional setting, ensuring patient needs are met with clinical excellence, compassion, and professionalism.

You will play a critical role in supporting behavioral health outcomes and contributing to an integrated, multidisciplinary care model.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients in a correctional setting

  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical presentation

  • Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychiatric medications, including evaluation of effectiveness and side effects

  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, integrated behavioral health care

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical records and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards

  • Educate patients, clinical staff, and custody partners on mental health conditions, treatment options, and behavioral health best practices

  • Participate in treatment planning, care coordination, and discharge planning to support continuity of care

  • Support quality improvement initiatives and adherence to behavioral health standards of care

  • Participate in meetings and case reviews as required

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the state of California (or eligibility to practice)

  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment modalities

  • Experience in correctional healthcare, acute psychiatry, or similarly structured environments preferred

  • Ability to prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with applicable regulations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients and multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative care team

Work Environment

  • On-site position within a correctional facility

  • Must be comfortable working in a secure, structured, and high-accountability healthcare environment
