Description

Summary

The Skidmore College Counseling Center seeks a compassionate and collaborative Psychiatric Consultant (Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) to join our interdisciplinary mental health team.

This is a part-time, 9-month position (3-4 hours per week for Fall and Spring Terms, so approximately 100 hours/total) providing psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and clinical consultation for undergraduate students. While we strongly prefer candidates who are able to provide services in person at the Counseling Center, we are also open to qualified candidates who wish to provide services virtually through a secure telehealth platform.

The Psychiatric Consultant works closely with Counseling Center clinicians to coordinate care for students receiving ongoing counseling services. Responsibilities include providing psychiatric evaluations, psychopharmacological assessment and treatment, medication management, participation in interdisciplinary treatment planning, and consultation to Counseling Center staff to support high-quality, student-centered care.

The Counseling Center provides a broad range of services to the Skidmore community, including crisis intervention, brief individual counseling, group counseling, consultation, outreach programming, and after-hours crisis support. Students present with a wide range of developmental and psychiatric concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, ADHD, eating disorders, substance use concerns, mood disorders, and other complex mental health needs. We are committed to providing timely, effective, inclusive, and culturally responsive care to all students.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent diagnostic and psychopharmacology skills, strong written and verbal communication, the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team, and a commitment to providing compassionate care to a diverse population of college students. They must provide proof of current NY state licensure and have the ability to prescribe medication in New York.
