Psychiatric/DD Nurse 13298

Position Summary

The Psychiatric/DD Nurse provides professional nursing care to individuals with psychiatric and/or developmental disabilities, assessing and monitoring patient conditions, administering medications and prescribed treatments, responding to medical emergencies, and maintaining accurate medical documentation. This position also supports care planning, patient education, healthcare coordination, and staff development as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Provide professional nursing care and monitor patient conditions, symptoms, reactions, and progress.
• Conduct nursing rounds and take and document vital signs.
• Prepare and administer prescribed medications, treatments, and immunizations.
• Develop and review care plans as assigned.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate nursing intervention.
• Evaluate patient needs and coordinate appropriate medical referrals when necessary.
• Perform specialized nursing procedures as assigned, including IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusion, intubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy.
• Provide healthcare education and instruction regarding treatment needs.
• Assist physicians with diagnostic health evaluations.
• Provide guidance, orientation, and training to nursing and support staff as assigned.
• Maintain accurate records of medications, treatments, patient information, and required reports.
• Maintain accurate inventory of medications, medical supplies, and equipment.
• Arrange appointments, examinations, and prescription services as needed.
• Participate in meetings, training, and problem-solving teams.
• Perform administrative, clerical, and other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723.03 of the Ohio Revised Code.
• Knowledge of professional registered nursing procedures and applicable state and federal nursing regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of inventory control.
• Skill in operating common medical equipment, including blood pressure cuffs and EKG equipment.
• Ability to prepare concise and accurate reports and maintain appropriate documentation.
• Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position and maintain the physical fitness necessary to perform nursing duties.
