JOB SUMMARY:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) will provide continuous and comprehensive services necessary for the promotion of optimal mental health, prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders and health maintenance to patients of CHSI. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders. The PNP works collaboratively with other on site medical and mental health providers to ensure the delivery of comprehensive and quality patient care.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conducts therapy, medication assessments, and crisis response to new and existing clients. Develops individual service plans based upon assessment data, and provides therapeutic interventions as necessary including the provision of on-going medication management services. Maintains documentation of services including service plans, progress notes, medication informed consent, quarterly treatment plan reviews, and other required information in compliance with agency and third party compliance standards. Receives medical supervision from psychiatric consultants consistent with applicable protocol. Assists in the development of Behavioral Health policies and procedures that ensures and promotes best practices in the care of patients served by the program. Ensures program is in compliance with all state, city and licensing regulatory bodies. Participates in staff training as required by grant and by CHSI; provides staff training. Will report direct patient care issues to the Medical Director and any other issue(s) (i.e. administrative) to the Clinic Administrator. Responsible for participating in quality improvement projects/activities and accountable for quality and PCMH. Perform all other duties as directed either formally or informally, verbally or in writing.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises the assigned LCSW(s)/LMFT(s) in the performance of their clinical duties and responsibilities per existing protocols.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • A high standard of professionalism and professional ethics and conduct is expected in speech, manner, attitude and appearance at all times.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with divergent groups.
  • Must possess excellent customer service including verbal and written communication.

  • Ability to perform tasks related to physical activity to complete the responsibilities of the position.

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Masters prepared Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry
  • Three years' experience in a psychiatry field of practice
  • Must have a current California Nurse Practitioner license
  • American Nursing Credentialing Corporation (ANCC) Certification or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) required for Nurse Practitioners
  • Must have a current DEA certificate
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Must maintain continuing medical education requirements for licensure
