Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Requirements and Qualifications
Doctoral or Master's degree in Nursing, with ANCC Certification in Psychiatric Nursing
Valid DEA and Texas state licensure as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, willing to obtain NM APRN license
3+ years of Psychiatric NP experience in an outpatient clinical setting
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Credentialed with Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare and Commercial Payers
Knowledge of mental health and emotional disorders
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work as part of a team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Duties and Responsibilities
Diagnose and treat mental health and emotional disorders
Prescribe and monitor medications
Become competent in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and/or Spravato/Esketamine Therapies
Maintain detailed records of patient visits and progress
Assist in the development of individualized treatment plans
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patient continuity of care
Educate patients and families about mental health and emotional disorders
Participate in community outreach and education
