Southeastern Directions for Life is 1 of 11 Community Mental Health Centers in South Dakota dedicated to providing quality professional services to keep our individuals, families, schools, workplaces, and communities emotionally strong and healthy. We serve children, adults and families in the Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook and Turner Counties.

Enjoy a relaxed clinic environment with consistent nursing support! The Psychiatrist will collaborate with a treatment team consisting of on-site pharmacists, mental health therapists and case managers.

Job Summary: The Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and evidence-based treatment for individuals experiencing mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, this position delivers high-quality, person-centered care while promoting recovery, wellness, and improved quality of life. The Psychiatrist ensures services are delivered in accordance with professional standards, organizational policies, and applicable state and federal regulations, while supporting Southeastern Directions for Life's mission.

Qualifications: The Psychiatrist must be fully licensed and certified in the state of South Dakota. One year of experience working with clients diagnosed with a Severe Mental Illness (SMI) preferred.

Demonstrated skill and competence in knowledge and understanding of mental health services for adults with a severe mental illness (SMI). Ability and creativity to plan and implement treatment interventions and work effectively with other staff and clients, individually and in groups. Ability to network and coordinate with various community agencies dealing with SMI.
