Psychiatry, Medical Director - Psychiatrist

CFG Health Network is seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director for the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit at St. Michaels Medical Center, a respected community hospital in Newark, NJ. Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct psychiatric care to adult inpatients, including evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning.

• Serve as the primary clinical leader of the inpatient psychiatric unit, overseeing all medical and clinical activities.

• Collaborate with the hospital administration, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to support quality improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Supervise and provide guidance to attending psychiatrists, advanced practice nurses (APNs), residents (if applicable), and clinical staff.

• Participate in case conferences, utilization review, and patient flow coordination.

• Lead performance improvement efforts and contribute to program development.

• Ensure timely documentation in the electronic medical record and compliance with hospital and CFG policies.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry

• Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey

• Minimum 35 years of clinical experience in inpatient psychiatry preferred

• Prior leadership or medical director experience strongly preferred

• DEA license and CDS certification

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
