License:
- Psychiatrist: Active license in the state where they practice.
- Psychologist: Licensed or certified for independent practice in the state where they practice.
Certifications: Psychologists must meet the applicable SSA qualification pathway, including qualifying doctoral education or National Register requirements.
Education: Doctoral-level psychology qualification for psychologists; medical degree for psychiatrists.
Experience Needed:
- Prior experience working with or supporting the Social Security Administration (SSA) is required.
- Experience reviewing SSA disability claims, psychological evidence, or disability determinations is strongly preferred.
Special Skills Needed:
- Strong knowledge of SSA disability programs, policies, and case review processes.
- Strong psychological case review and documentation skills.
- Ability to complete accurate assessments within required timelines.
Responsibilities:
- Review SSA disability claims and supporting psychological/medical evidence.
- Prepare accurate, policy-compliant psychological assessments.
- Complete assigned cases within required turnaround times.
- Participate in required SSA training and quality-review activities.
Misc: Favorable suitability determination required. SSA provides a laptop and access to required systems. The monthly quality target is 96%, with an average turnaround requirement of 5 business days.
