Brief Description of Duties

Serves as Psychology Associate with responsibility for planning, organizing and providing psychological services for individuals or groups who represent all diagnostic categories and all degrees of psychological disorders. Provides psychological and neuropsychological services and assessments for Individuals in care (IIC), under supervision of a licensed psychologist. Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team; provides therapeutic services including crisis intervention, individual, group, and family psychotherapy directed toward complex and severely dysregulated individuals. Selects, administers, and interprets a wide variety of psychological assessments, tests and procedures for individual clients. May conduct or coordinate formal and informal lectures on psychological techniques, theory, and practices.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT: Satisfactory completion as an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral program (Ph.D. or Psy.D) in clinical or counseling psychology and an 2,000 hour (APA) accredited clinical internship. In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must be registered in the District of Columbia through the D.C. Health, Health Professional Licensing Administration before the start of employment.

For the Grade; DS-12: One (1) year specialized experience post degree

Must possess a registration to practice as a Psychology Associate in the District of Columbia

Work Experience

Specialized knowledge in area of specialty, e.g. psychotic disorders, trauma, clinical psychological assessments, forensic psychology, and/or treatment. Knowledge in clinical psychological assessment and/or treatment of adults with serious mental illness, including the elderly.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a controlled environment and involves some exposure to moderate risk of accidents and requires following basic safety precautions.

RESIDENCY PREFERENCE

A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
