The Psychometrist administers and scores a broad spectrum of psychometric assessments, including highly technical individually administered and computer-based neuropsychological and psychological assessment measures, under the general supervision of a neuropsychologist.
This role typically includes approximately 2-3 hours of direct face-to-face testing per patient, followed by 30-60 minutes of scoring and preparing comparison norms to support the neuropsychologist in interpreting assessment results.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer a broad spectrum of tests and assessment protocols under the general supervision of a psychologist or neuropsychologist
- Evaluate and respond to patient needs during evaluations; manage patient behavior during assessment sessions and maintain an appropriate testing environment to ensure validity of results
- Consult with staff or a neuropsychologist when necessary regarding unusual patient needs and/or special accommodations during evaluation
- Score psychological and neuropsychological measures according to normative standards and clinical protocols using test manuals and/or computer scoring programs
- Record and compile summaries of patient assessment results
- Provide thorough documentation of observations regarding patient behavior during testing and assist with quality control
- Attend to routine administrative responsibilities related to the operation of a psychological clinic
- Assist in teaching trainees proper methods of test administration and scoring, including how to document observations and respond to patient needs or behavioral issues during testing sessions
- Assist with research projects, including consultations with research assessment specialists and the processing and reporting of research data
- Participate in constructing or setting up research-related psychological assessment protocols
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in applied psychology or a related field
- Minimum of one (1) year of exposure to psychological assessment activities
