Job Summary

The Psychotherapist 1 role involves providing therapy and counseling to people and their families. This can include different forms of group therapy. An important aspect is assisting in evaluating the therapeutic needs of referred patients.

Essential Functions of the Role

  • Start by reviewing and evaluating orders from senior staff and patient medical records. Use this information to carry out diagnostic assessments. Establish the need for psychotherapeutic treatment.
  • Once a treatment course is established, use the correct tools and techniques. Implement appropriate evaluation tests and measurements. Create relevant programs that align with prescriptions, direction, and goals set by physicians.
  • Coming next is carrying out one-on-one, family, and group psychotherapy sessions. Use effective psychotherapeutic techniques. These should align with doctors'' prescriptions, direction, and goals for the patient''s benefit. In an emergency, be ready to provide quick intervention and assessment.
  • Another crucial part of your role involves evaluating treatment effectiveness and monitoring patients'' progress. This evaluation is essential for establishing or revising treatment specifics. You''ll also conduct necessary tests to diagnose and treat patients'' problems. Track their progress while upholding professional standards at all times.
  • Communication is key in this role. You''ll need to convey information clearly and concisely. This includes anything affecting the treatment program or patient well-being. You will compile clinical progress notes and fulfill documentation requirements according to office policies. If needed, you''ll also help with teaching activities.
  • Part of your duties involves knowledge and fulfilling professional and technical requirements. You must provide documentation as proof of this knowledge and completion.
  • Lastly, give orientation to patients on office policies about treatment compliance, cancellations, and no-shows. Monitor patient cancellations and fill vacant appointment times from cancellation lists. Enforce the no-show policy with patients, considering their unique situations.

Key Success Factors

  • Knowledge of the basics and specialized aspects of psychotherapy, including relevant tests, treatments, recovery techniques and practices is required.
  • Familiarity with various counseling and therapeutic approaches is also necessary.
  • Proficient at interpreting interviews and test results for diagnostic purposes.
  • Skilled at conducting solo and group psychotherapy sessions.
  • Capable of comprehending behavioural deficits and discrepancies.
  • Skilled at crafting comprehensive rehabilitation plans, overseeing their execution and managing behavioural adaptations.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities are essential.
