Position Description

DEFINITION:

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Coordinator of Athletic Event Management position performs duties and responsibilities in two primary areas: 1) Athletic event operations - Establish and maintain the Department of Athletics Volunteer program - Oversee the management of all CFCC athletic event operations; 2) Athletic Event promotions - Foster the Sea Devil Athletics brand and promote attendance to all CFCC sponsored athletic events.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Receives general direction from the Director of Athletics.

Supervises game management personnel, and volunteers as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Serve as the front-of-the-house point of contact for the Director of Athletics, coaches, volunteers, visiting team, officials, security, and emergency medical services.

Overall planning, developing, and organizing the Department of Athletics Intern program.

Facilitate and manage ticket sales, concession stand sales, and the VIP room functions; including but not limited to gameday inventory and proper financial control.

Manage facilities and ensure a safe and clean environment for all student-athletes and spectators.

Maintain CFCC Athletic Team Inventory

Provide communication throughout the College in regard to facility use, maintenance, and custodial needs.

Coordinate with local high schools, AAU, and Club programs to bring in recruitment opportunities; work with the Director of Recruitment to maximize recruiting efforts for the College through athletic events.

Establish and maintain an effective working relationship and positive image with those involved, including a variety of college and government officials, community groups, the general public, and the Sea Devil family.

Responsible for adhering to the policies and regulations of Cape Fear Community College and NJCAA.

Provide leadership; serve as a role model; set high standards and represent the institution well.

Work closely with the Director of Athletics keeping him/her abreast of all planning, organizing, staff, and development of all CFCC-sponsored athletic events.

Support the philosophy and mission of the College.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

Operational characteristics, services, and activities of a comprehensive athletics department.

Must possess knowledge of principles, rules, and regulations pertaining to athletic events.

Organizational and management practices as applied to the evaluation of programs, policies, and operational

needs.

Principles and practices of program development and administration.

Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.

English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

Ability To:

Interpret and explain the Department of Athletics policies and procedures.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; prepare clear and concise reports.

Provide leadership; serve as a role model; set high standards and represent the institution well; professional in dress, conduct, and attitude.

Ability to work nights and weekends.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.

Ability to communicate and interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations in the

community and the general public.

Maintain a positive relationship and rapport with all student-athletes.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Minimum Education/Training:

High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Candidate must have a valid driver's license.

Associate's Degree preferred
