Position Description
DEFINITION: To perform routine building cleaning tasks; related work as required. This is repetitive manual work requiring efficient performance of simple building cleaning and maintenance duties. An employee in this class works under general supervision on routine recurring assignment, receiving specific instructions on each new or unusual assignment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives supervision from the Supervisor and/or Custodian Supervisor

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTION STATEMENT: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Sweep, mop, wax and buff floors, halls, and stairways.
Wash windows, doors and mirrors and polish furniture.
Dust woodwork, furniture, venetian blinds, blackboards and other articles.
Collect paper and rubbish. Keep lounge clean.
Clean and supply restrooms.
Observe and report hazardous conditions.
Operate cleaning equipment as required.
Clean overhead vents and air filters.
Maintain a positive working relationship with faculty, supervisors, staff, co-workers, and students.
Other Important Functions:
May shovel snow
May deliver packages and messages.
May assist in training new custodial personnel
Perform other related duties and responsibilities assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of:
• Some knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
Ability to:
• Ability to use cleaning equipment and supplies economically and efficiently
• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully within a group
• Ability to read and write
• Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written directions
• Communicate concisely and respectfully, both orally and in writing
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
• Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
o Making observations
o Reading and writing
o Communicating with others
o Operating assigned equipment
o Handling varied tasks simultaneously
• Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:
o Standing or sitting for extended periods of time
o Operating assigned equipment
o Handling varied tasks simultaneously
o Bending, stooping, climbing or lifting up to 50 pounds
• Maintain mental capacity, which allows the capability of:
o Making sound decisions
o Responding to questions
o Demonstrating intellectual capabilities
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Minimum Education/Training:
• Minimum high school diploma
Minimum Experience:
• At least 6 months building cleaning experience
Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills
• One or more years building cleaning experience
