About The Position

The teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Trade Tech and Community Learning campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Part-time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. Part-time faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. As one of the most diverse community college districts in southern California, we offer a wide range of opportunities in transfer, general education, vocational and occupational programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Any Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the discipline; OR
  • Any Associate degree and six years of experience in the discipline; OR
  • The equivalent AND,

Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

Local Equivalency Statement:

  1. Minimum of 18 units of completed lower division General Education credits in 3 out of 4 General Education requirement areas (Language and Rationality; Natural Science; Humanities; and Social Sciences) AND
  2. Culinary Arts/Food Services related certification such as: a. Certification as a working Chef by any Culinary Federation AND b. Membership in at least one Culinary Trade Organization AND
  3. Minimum of eight (8) years full-time food services occupational experience in the Food Services Industry (such as pastry, cold kitchen, banquets and/or gourmet foods) OR Minimum of twelve (12) units of completed Culinary Arts classes AND six (6) years of food service occupational experience (such as pastry, cold kitchen, banquets and/or gourmet foods).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Evidence of recent community college teaching in Culinary Arts
  • Minimum seven (7) years full-time, hands-on experience in commercial/industrial kitchens (Restaurants)

  • All graduate and undergraduate transcripts, showing school name, all college coursework, degree title and conferral date. This includes transcripts for any and all for the following degrees, BA/BS, MA/MS and above (Ed.D, Ph,D, etc.) and courses used for transfer credit. Transcripts can be official or unofficial and must be submitted as an attachment. The conferral date must be on or before the application deadline in order to meet Minimum Qualifications.
  • Transcripts from countries other than the United States must be evaluated by an agency that is a member of the National Association of Credentials Evaluation Service (NACES) and Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE).
