POSITION SUMMARY

Shifts:

  • 800 am to 130 pm and 100 pm to 700 pm Monday-Friday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a representative of the City of South Bend demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees and the public.
  • Attend training sessions, meetings, and orientation as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked work area and prep station, adhering to proper cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Clear and reset workstations and the kitchen after each shift.
  • Assist in the daily and weekly clean-up of facilities.
  • Help unload and restock inventory.
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, ensuring consistent and high-quality products for patrons.
  • Balance the POS System at the end of each shift and prepare deposit slips for bank deposits, taking responsibility for any overages and shortages.
  • Keep track of inventory and notify the Director of Food and Beverage when supplies are low.
  • Assist with special events as needed.

Non-Essential Marginal Functions:

  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested.

Education, Qualifications, and Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Food and Beverage experience is necessary.
  • Strong customer service skills and a positive, upbeat personality.
  • Familiarity with City or County government regulations is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet short time constraints.
  • Basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits is a plus.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions and operate a Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong ethics, and a commitment to honesty.
  • Must report to work as scheduled in uniform and prepare for duty.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking is helpful.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Valid Indiana Drivers License is required if driving a city vehicle.
  • Indiana Employee Liquor Permit is a plus.
  • Indiana Server Training Certification is a plus.
  • Food Safety Certification is helpful but not mandatory.
