Day Shift- Weekends only.

This is a part-time position working no more than 24 hours a week involving skilled administrative work in the county Office of Alternative Sentencing. An employee in this class is responsible for general office duties in addition to monitoring and responding to alerts from the GPS aided computer systems. Duties are performed under standard to limited supervision.

  • Knowledge and use of good telephone answering techniques and to take accurate messages.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written work directives and/or follow written program instructions.
  • Ability to read or view training materials and to comprehend the information.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and the ability to apply them in work day situations.
  • Good working knowledge of standard office machines including a calculator, copy or fax machine, computer terminals, PC's, printers, typewriter, etc.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.

Graduate of a standard high school or the equivalency, supplemented by some college courses and experience in operating various computer programs; or any combination of training and experience, which provide the desired knowledge, skills and abilities.

Necessary Special & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to proficiently utilize computer systems and software including but not limited to MS Excel as determined by departmental personnel.
  • Must be able to lift forty (40) pounds or more to a height of four (4) feet or more.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Eye sight must be correctable to 20/20 vision.
  • Hearing must be within normal acceptable range of 20-25 with or without a hearing aid.

Example of Duties

  • Monitor Alternative Sentencing program participants via the department's electronic monitoring devices and computer systems.
  • Communicate with program participants and/or local law enforcement agencies about system alerts to confirm violations, when necessary and as departmental protocol dictates.
  • Input and update systems information and parameters on program participants, when necessary and as departmental protocol dictates.
  • Activate new program participants and deactivate program participants according to departmental procedure
  • Receive program participants and visitors to the office. Answers telephone calls; handles inquiries and complaints from the public and/or participants.
  • Type letters, documents, reports, forms and other material for the department's staff as required.
  • Files correspondence, documents, reports, forms and other materials as needed.
  • Gives information and referrals to the general public.
  • Operate a copy machine, calculator, computer (PC) and other standard office equipment.
  • Sorts and distributes mail and inter-office correspondence.
  • Performs related duties as required.
