JOB DESCRIPTION

PT Fitness Instructor

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this classification is to promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of participants in fitness class.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide information to individuals regarding facility policies, procedures, programs, fees and other issues; respond to questions/complaints and initiate problem resolution.
  • Conduct group fitness classes; demonstrate or explain how to perform various exercises and routines to minimize injuries and improve fitness levels.
  • Maintain knowledge of fitness equipment and exercises; maintain necessary certifications.
  • Maintain knowledge of recreational fitness instruction and programming as well as an ability to maintain effective relationships with citizens of all groups.
  • Maintain cleanliness of fitness equipment and exercise rooms.
  • Communicate clear and concise information and instruction to patrons and co-workers.
  • This role involves developing safe, enjoyable, and effective fitness classes and coaches new members towards personal health and fitness goals.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs other related duties as requested, required and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; Ability to work independently.

Licenses or Certifications:

Must be able to obtain CPR certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is medium work. The employee is frequently required to apply 30 pounds of force to move objects. The employee is occasionally required to exert up to 50 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally requires: balancing, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing voices and distinguishing among sounds, kneeling, lifting, manual dexterity, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, expressing ideas by the spoken word and shouting to be heard above ambient noise, visual acuity in data/color/observations/operating equipment/inspect defects or measurements, and walking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors where performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as temperature/weather extremes. Work is performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.
