General Function
Plans and coordinates laboratory activities to support instructional programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitors laboratory/clinical/on-line activities; enforce rules and regulations and ensures safe environment.
- Assist students and instructors in a lab setting.
- Prepares facility for classes and ensures that work areas are clean and neat; ensures that equipment, materials, and handouts are laid out for classes.
- Assists in maintaining laboratory equipment; performs simple maintenance, cleans and stores equipment when not in use, monitors condition, and notifies supervisor of any needed repairs; ensures students maintain proper handling and cleaning of equipment.
- Monitors inventory of materials and supplies, initiates ordering process as needed; ensures students use only specified inventory and that all products adhere to FIFO practices.
- Assists instructor in preparing and monitoring student lab assignments.
- Ensures laundry room is stocked and organized and prepares towels for classes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
Abilities and Working knowledge of salon and spa laboratory procedures, Safety and infection control practices for salons, barber shops, and spas. Salon, barbering, massage therapy product knowledge, or two years' experience in salon and spa supplies and beauty education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Cosmetology, current cosmetology license from the NC Cosmetic Arts Board, or barber license from the NC Barber Board, or Massage Therapist license from the NC Massage Therapy Board. or, two years in salon and spa supplies and education. Inventory Software experience,
- Ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds
