Description

Under general supervision performs responsible and varied technical work that permits some choice of procedures and some independence of actions in the disposition of routine matters, as it relates to the Library.

Examples of Duties

Essential Responsibilities:

A. Maintains textbook, reserves, Health Careers/CTE, and equipment collections, processes, and inventory. Maintains overdue and billing processes and files.

B. Develops and maintains comprehensive electronic and paper records and systems, using database software programs and other computer software programs as required, and prepares reports, lists, and charts related to usage and other relevant data.

C. Coordinates with the bookstore and faculty to obtain lists of current textbooks in use. Arranges for textbook purchases, tracks collection budget, and provides regular reports of budget expenditures.

D. Catalogs assigned collections via copy and original cataloging using ALMA and OCLC.

E. Works at circulation desk when needed. Performs customer service duties; answers telephones, greets visitors, arranges appointments, and directs telephone and personal callers to proper parties; coordinates room reservations and related activities and may disseminate department or institution information.

F. Performs computer circulation transactions which include charging and discharging materials, bibliographic searches, and patron file maintenance.

G. Assists in the creation of instructional material, advertising flyers, and other marketing or programming related tasks as assigned.

H. Maintains job procedures manual for acquisitions, cataloging, and processes related to the textbook, reserves, Health Careers/CTE, and equipment collections.

Minimum Qualifications

A. High school diploma or equivalent required with additional training related to library preferred. Library Technical Assistant (LTA) training desirable.

B. At least one to three years of related work experience required. Library experience preferred..

C. Computer experience using Microsoft Office or comparable applications required. Computer Skills Level II required - able to use the telephone, voicemail, and email; able to manage files and perform basic functions with the current operating system; able to create, format, edit documents and spreadsheets; Certification as Microsoft Office Specialist in appropriate applications or demonstrated equivalent skills required.

D. Demonstrated organization skills, flexibility to provide a variety of services, and accuracy with detail preferred.

E. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

F. Demonstrated proficiency in English required.

G. Ability to communicate in other languages desirable.

Supplemental Information

Hiring range: $16.13/hr. min. - $17.74/hr. 1st quartile - $19.35/hr. mid.
