DutiesEffectively delivers tutoring services to students at scheduled times may be individual or group sessions. Posts and maintains a weekly schedule of available hours for student appointmentsAssists students with the development of study skills necessary for post-secondary educationKeeps regular and accurate records of tutoring sessionsMonitors and reviews student work. Modifies and personalizes tutoring strategies to accommodate the different learning styles and needsFacilitates the learning process by encouraging students to take responsibility for their progressInteracts with SJC staff andor faculty to obtain any necessary course syllabi or materials and to develop tutoring materials in support of the courseDelivers feedback as appropriate to staff andor faculty regarding student progressContinues professional education through research and review of relevant material relating to the assigned subject matterMay assist with additional duties as needed for example covering the front desk answering phones organizing materials checking out resources and performing other duties as assignedCompletes and submits required documents in an accurate and timely mannerActively participates in departmental meetings as requiredComplete CRLA level 1 certification within one year of employmentResponsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
