Part-Time Preclinical Teaching Faculty

UNMC College of Medicine - Kearney Regional Campus

The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Medicine COM is seeking a part-time Pre-Clinical Teaching Faculty member to join its Kearney Regional Campus. The College is dedicated to educating and training physicians for practice in Greater Nebraska with a particular focus on preparing students to meet the health care needs of rural and regional communities. This position offers a meaningful opportunity for a practicing physician to have a direct and lasting impact on medical students early in their training, shaping their clinical reasoning, professional identity, and commitment to patient-centered care in Nebraska.

This role is designed for physicians with a strong interest in medical education. The successful candidate will contribute to small-group active-learning experiences within the Phase 1 preclinical curriculum with a particular emphasis on early clinical reasoning and professional skill development. The faculty member will hold an academic appointment within the College of Medicine department that aligns with their specialty.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate small-group learning sessions in Phase 1 curricular components, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Communication Skills, Physical Diagnosis, and Evidence-Based Medicine. • Commit approximately one half-day per week during the academic year for scheduled teaching activities. • Participate in required preparatory sessions and faculty development activities to ensure alignment with curricular goals and instructional methods. • Engage in assessment and feedback activities related to assigned teaching responsibilities. • Serve as requested on relevant College of Medicine committees consistent with the part-time nature of the appointment.
