Big Sky Resort is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented and efficient Public Area (PA) Manager They will lead by example when interacting with guests around the resort and uphold the high standards of cleanliness expected within the properties. The PA Manager is responsible for hiring, training, managing, and leading the Public Areas Team. Responsible for creating and documenting industry standard cleaning, chemical management, and equipment management operating protocols. The PA team is responsible for the cleanliness and general appearance of the Resort Public Areas including The Huntley Hotel, Yellowstone Conference Center, Exchange, Snowcrest Building, Mountain Village Plaza, in addition to any future Public Areas at Big Sky Resort Reports to the AGM – Huntley Lodge and Shoshone Condominium Hotel.

Responsibilities:
  • Recruiting and hiring seasonal staff including supervisors, and attendants 
  • Developing seasonal training program, which is implemented, monitored, and documented for all seasonal staff members.  
  • Evaluating and planning seasonal workforce needs 
  • Managing equipment inventory, including planned cyclical equipment purchasing and seasonal maintenance.  
  • Complete routine mid-season training sessions to elevate staff performance.  
  • Managing consumable supplies inventory, including ordering.  
  • Monitoring personal appearance of team members and enforcing handbook guidelines. 
  • Monitoring staff efficiency and quality of work outcomes. Ensure additional training is provided when work outcomes do not meet resort standards.  
  • Responsible for PA staff timekeeping and adherence to scheduled breaks and lunches in accordance with Employee Handbook.  
  • Hands on leadership style, routinely works alongside seasonal staff for training and support in all cleaning tasks.  
  • Monitor all public areas routinely for cleanliness and safety.  
  • Train staff on facilities maintenance routines, what to look for, and how to report for repairs as needed.  
  • Cultivate a respectful and service-oriented culture.  
  • Conduct daily standup meetings for each shift.  
  • Communicate and engage staff members in Boyne LEADS program.  
  • Maintain public areas independently during resort closure periods when no seasonal staff are present.  
Qualifications:
  • 2 years of public areas, housekeeping, custodial, facilities maintenance managerial role, or similar experience required. 
  • Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds and lift 25lbs 
  • Thorough knowledge of custodial cleaning products, proper storage and disposal protocols, and chemical usage.  
  • Ability to maintain MSDS documentation in an organized and efficient manner.  
  • Thorough knowledge of industry best practices. 
  • Possess strong interpersonal, motivational skills and the ability to supervise and inspire staff. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain organized consumables inventory.  
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and control expenses as needed within a seasonal budget. Including payroll, consumable supply expense, guest supply expense, and equipment expense.  
  • Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team.  
  • Multitasking and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in the following software platforms. Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint. UKG Payroll and Scheduling Software. Alice for Hospitality.  
  • Variable schedule required. Typical schedule includes 3 morning and 2 mid shifts per week, with at least 1 evening shift required per month. 
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred, not required
