Description

Our client is seeking a Lead Superintendent to oversee large-scale public construction projects throughout Northern New Jersey, with a focus on complex ground-up developments. This individual will be responsible for leading field operations, managing project teams, driving schedules, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Description

  • Lead all on-site construction activities from mobilization through project completion.
  • Manage multiple Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are achieved.
  • Coordinate all site logistics, trade sequencing, and subcontractor activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality, compliance, and safety standards.
  • Lead project meetings with owners, architects, engineers, and public agency representatives.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents to ensure proper execution.
  • Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and schedule impacts proactively.
  • Ensure adherence to local building codes, public procurement requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, daily reports, and progress updates.
  • Support project closeout activities, punch list completion, and owner turnover.
  • Champion a culture of safety and accountability across all project sites.

Profile

A successful Public Construction Lead Superintendent should have:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Superintendent within the commercial or public construction industry.
  • Extensive experience leading ground-up public construction projects exceeding $20M in value.
  • Proven success managing schools, municipal buildings, government facilities, healthcare, institutional, or other publicly funded projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
  • Experience supervising large field teams and coordinating multiple trades simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, public-sector compliance requirements, and building codes.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Office, and construction management software.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Stable employment history with a demonstrated record of successfully delivering complex projects.
