This position works with other CFE staff to evaluate the effectiveness of workshops through analysis of feedback and conducts needs assessments to inform strategic planning for faculty development initiatives. It also develops long-term workshop offerings, recommends communication improvements, and collaborates with faculty and staff to design and deliver targeted programming.

Position Details

General Statement

The Center for Faculty Excellence supports the professional development of all faculty (tenure-track and non-tenure track) across all career stages in the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, outreach/service and leadership. Guided by faculty interests and goals, and the values of innovation, collaboration, and partnerships, the Center is a place where faculty members connect to share knowledge and skills that support each other's growth. This position will interact with faculty from across the University to gain a broad range of input and ideas and gain experience in analysis and assessment processes, developing needs assessments and curricula, and designing and delivering workshops to faculty participants.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze workshops, reflections and feedback forms to assess their effectiveness and impact on student persistence for both in-person and distance education.
  • Design and complete a needs assessment.
  • Develop a long-term plan for workshops indicating which workshops should be offered each year and which should be offered less frequently. Also include workshops that are missing and should be offered.
  • Make recommendations for advertising and communications improvements that would benefit faculty and the Center.
  • Develop and conduct workshops that are identified as a need in collaboration with CFE staff and MSU faculty.

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Personal experience or previous work with faculty and/or adult learners
  • Taught classes at the college level
  • Professionalism and maturity
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Respect for and appreciation of a broad range of various identities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Doctoral or terminal degree in field of Education or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
